Bournemouth Pine Walk Art Exhibition

Hello everyone, it has been ages since I last updated my blog. I do apologize as it has been manic lately. I do appreciate the comments from those who have been dropping by. The Pinewalk Art Exhibition in Bournemouth’s Lower Gardens was established over 50 years ago and is one of the largest, and longest running, open air art displays in the country. This year's open air exhibition would be starting on the 26th of May till the 9th of September. I got to know about it when I first moved to Poole but I was far from prepared to exhibit any work and besides it was already late when I did get to know about it. I did visit a couple of times last year and I was very impressed by the array of talents that were on show. I took the opportunity to chat with some of the local artists and it was very interesting.

Luckily I have been able to keep track of when the applications start and I am hoping I would be able to get a slot in May. As luck would have it I have so many works that have never been seen. Works that I have guarded very closely. The works include paintings in different media mostly oil, mixed media and hand made cards.

I will also be displaying my ACEO creations most likely in a different format. I have a lot of preparation to do alongside working full time. But I am very determined to take the bold step and put my work out there for the public to scrutinize.

I will keep you informed about the exact dates and times when I get confirmation.

Butterfly Series

I recently made a series of paintings of butterflies that caught my interest. They are part of the things that have kept my mind (and soul) busy. I have always been fascinated by the lightness and freedom of butterflies. They are so lightweight and yet very beautiful.

I enjoyed highlighting the differences that existed in their patterns. I also made Butterfly cards which are good unique gifts to give a loved one this valentine.

As time goes on I would be adding more of the butterflies here. Currently I am offering free shipping on all the items in my Etsy Shop there you would find different types of paintings made with different media and different sizes.

All the best.

Etsy Treasury Lists

Today's a really wonderful day in a lot of ways. First it is Valentine's day: the day to show love. And secondly, I woke up this morning to discover 2 of my paintings are featured in 2 Etsy treasury lists. Being new to Etsy, there's so much that I do not know and "Treasuries" are some of them. But I've heard a lot about them and I know that a lot of people struggle to get one and better still many are happy when their item is featured in a treasury.

I came across this article that explained to a good extent what treasuries are all about and how one can go about getting it. At the end of the day it turned out that it actually does merit all the hype that has been placed on it. According to the article,

"A Treasury is a member-curated gallery of short-lived lists of 12 hand-picked items each (plus four alternates). It functions as a high-demand (and pretty!) promotional tool that many devoted Etsians fight to get. Members can feature their favorite items, items selected on a theme, or just however they like. The Treasury is not intended for self-promotion, but instead to acknowledge and share the many cool things for sale on Etsy."

"The Etsy Home Page rotates  many times daily and is selected from a Treasury List or curated by Admin. The Admins choose their favorite lists to feature on the front page"

It sure does feel good knowing that someone liked my work enough to put it in a treasury. And the best part of the treasury is that it is visible to the public.

Please do make out time to visit the treasuries and click on my paintings to view them. Comments about the treasury are also allowed (and would be appreciated!!). They are here

The striking thing about ACEOs is that they can be made with any medium (eg Oil, Acrylic, Ink, Pencils, Charcoal) and material (eg wood, paper, metal). But they have one rule: it must be two and one-half inches by three and one-half inches (2.5" x 3.5"). Thus ACEOs have one constant and many variables.
