Acrylic Painting: Surreal and Still

This is from one of the several pictures I took while on a trip to Shakawe, a town near the border between Botswana and Namibia.
There were children fishing in the small pond but I left them out in this painting. Will put them in the bigger one I intend to do someday.
What caught my attention were the reflections the vegetation at the side of the pool made in the still water. I don't know why I am always fascinated by reflections seen in water.
They almost always look very surreal and still. Qualities I long to imbibe.
I took part in a 2 day programme that turned out to be lots of fun. I gave a talk on the role Art has played in my life as a physician. I mainly reflected on how Art has helped me cope with the daily pressures of frontline medicine as well as maintaining a good work-life balance.
I took out time to visit the Olympic Museum in Lausanne while I was in Switzerland. I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Thankfully it was a clear beautiful day.
The Royal Dutch Medical Association company Tweezers and Brush is currently holding its annual exhibition at the Medical Center Alkmaar (MCA), Wilhelminalaan 12.1815 JD Alkmaar from October 3 to November 28, 2015. I sent in 3 paintings and I am proud to be part of the exhibition. The most exciting part of it all is being featured in the front page of the exhibition brochure.
Learning to paint is a richly rewarding and versatile skill which once mastered, can be a source of endless pleasure and satisfaction. Everyone is a born artist. The art of painting is not reserved only for those who have been taught. It is for those who are determined to paint.
It is always interesting seeing how a painting affects people and how people react to it. In the last few months I have taken it to Sherborne, Christchurch and Winchester where the interest it generates has only but intensified.
